SPRING CLEAN YOUR BRAND & REFRESH YOUR IMPACT

The ability to simplify means to eliminate the unnecessary so that the necessary may speak.

– Hans Hofmann

Spring is upon us finally and the sunshine is starting to appear and warm us up after a dreary and wet winter, so we have lots to smile about.

To celebrate the arrival of spring, this month I want to talk remind you of the importance of spring cleaning your brand. Just like we refresh our homes when the weather warms up, our brands can also benefit from a little decluttering.

Over time, even the best of us tend to get a little off track with our brand. We might use mismatched templates or rushed posts that aren’t on brand, and that’s ok. Noones perfect all the time. But that’s where a good spring clean comes into play.

In this newsletter I’ll share a few simple tips for how you can tidy up your visuals, streamline your messaging and make sure you brand looks and feels consistent and ready to shine.

I’ve also got a few exciting things happening in the pipeline too which I’m thrilled to announce, so keep reading and find out what’s happening at Wow!

Warmly, Alysha

LET’S TALK BRANDING

Spring Clean Your Brand and Refresh Your Impact

SPRING CLEAN YOUR BRAND

AND REFRESH YOUR IMPACT

Just like your wardrobe, your brand can get a little cluttered over time. Outdated or one-off special logos pop up in random places, old taglines and marketing messages linger on social media and marketing collateral doesn’t always match. Sometimes it’s a random piece we rush to get out the door and other times it’s a gentle transition to a new look that outshines some of the older stuff.

The good news is a spring clean is the perfect way to audit your brand and bring it back to life. That way, you can be sure you’re putting your best foot forward and showcasing your brand in the best possible light.

So, without further ado, here are a few quick and simple tips to help you spring clean your brand.

Check your consistency

The first step to a good spring clean is to check how you have been using your brand and make sure your being consistent.

  • Make sure everyone is using the correct logo and brand colours and no one has added a rogue off brand element or colour that’s throwing off the flow or style. And make sure they look the same everywhere… your website, socials, and all your marketing materials.
  • Do an audit of your social posts, etc. and make sure everyone is on the same page with tone of voice, language and the marketing messages being used.
  • Review your email templates and signatures, letterhead, presentation templates and any other daily use items match your brand style. PowerPoints are often the biggest culprit when it comes to using a little poetic license with the brand and over time this expands and its not just one little tweak but a whole landslide away from where it started.
  • Do an audit of your printed materials like flyers, brochures and business cards to make sure they are all up to date with your current look, colours and style.
  • Compare your online presence to your brand. Do they match? Identify any inconsistences and make a note of anything that needs updating. Delete anything that your audience reacted negatively to or that isn’t a reflection of your business and the impression you want to give the viewer today.

Update your First Impressions

  • Do a refresh of all your intro pages. This includes your social media bios, website introduction and about us pages, your Google Business profile and any other first impression touchpoints you might have like the customer or staff on-boarding process, etc.
  • Check your listings and all the categories and drop downs are accurate, consistent and up to date with your service offerings.

Declutter your brand assets

  • Remove any outdated templates, graphics, images, old logos, outdated marketing materials, etc. that don’t match your brand style, colours, tone or messaging.
Do a tidy up and reorganisation of your digital files. Over time things get lost, moved around or saved in the wrong places. Take the time now to reorganise and you will thank yourself later.
  • Delete any duplicated or outdated files to ensure there is no confusion for yourself or your employees about which version of a file to use. It’s also good practice to get rid of any low-quality files too.

Polish your brand messaging

  • Revisit your Brand Heart – Your purpose, mission, vision and values and make sure they still reflect your business today. If you feel like there is a mismatch it might be time to do a deep dive or book a brand discovery session with Wow and let us guide you through the whole process. Your Brand Heart is the key to success so it’s important to make sure it’s leading you in the right direction.
  • Update your elevator pitch. We often get stuck in a rut because its easy, however, over time what you do often changes or becomes more succinct, make sure you’re communicating the real you when you have the opportunity.
  • Review the language you’re using in your posts, emails, presentations and marketing materials and make sure it reflects who you are and resonates with the audience you’re speaking to.
  • Look at your marketing messages and taglines. Are you clearly expressing what you offer and what makes you special or is it time to shake things up a bit with a new invigorated message?

Refreshing your brand doesn’t have to be overwhelming. By taking simple, intentional steps to tidy up and get rid of old outdated stuff you’re working towards creating a stronger, cleaner and more memorable brand that will connect better with your audience.

And remember, it isn’t just about looks, it’s about presenting with confidence, clarity and authenticity!
